Newcastle is nationally – and internationally – renowned for its unique nightlife.
Much of that is down to the people. The Geordie nation know how to let their hair down and have a good time like few others. But for the non-Newcastle native, where does one go for a rollicking good time in the city – and where should one avoid?
It’s a question we put to you, the Great British public, and as ever you did not let us down. The suggestions were varied and intriguing, complimentary and…less so. Perhaps most interesting were the common sentiments throughout.
Of course there were the predictably bantersome responses…
here's a really great club, gone through some tough times but getting better again now. Owner is a dick though. pic.twitter.com/TXDUCClBWR

A very popular suggestion was the Quayside area…
Quayside
— Gary Taphouse (@garytaphouse) December 8, 2016
Start in town in the day, and work your way to Quayside. Start Quayside in evening and work your way up back into town.
— Daniel Storey (@danielstorey85) December 8, 2016
Bridge Tavern down near the Quayside is good place to start

world HQ is good, sinners an experience, Rusty's essential
— dom 🚞 (@dompart) December 8, 2016
Sinners is an experience alright. Smells of sick, feet stick to the floor. Get involved if that's your thing.

As did the ‘Black Garter’…
The Black Garter pub….full to the rafters by 10am, mostly with elderly toothless men equipped with grocery bags. A must.
— Sean (@stuckydog) December 8, 2016
aye and you can buy almost ANYTHING barring military grade weapons in the Garter
— Mr Binny (@mrbinny) December 8, 2016

— Sean (@stuckydog) December 8, 2016
One thing is for sure, there was no shortage of cracking suggestions…
