A 26-year-old man is said to have punched Hart at least once in the incident

WWE legend Bret Hart was tackled by a fan during a Hall of Fame ceremony in New York’s Barclays Center on Saturday night.

Hart, who was accepting induction for the second time, was giving a speech inside the ring when a man jumped barricades and launched himself at 61-year-old.

Though the WWE Network coverage instantly cut out at this point, footage which has since surfaced online sees the fan being pulled away from Hart by a large group – thought to have been made up of security and some of the pro wrestlers in attendance.

UFC heavyweight Travis Browne is reportedly one of those to have intervened to protect Hart, footage allegedly showing him throwing punches at the fan while on the ground. WWE wrestler Dash Wilder is also thought to have been involved.

Thankfully, Hart was not injured and was later able to finish his speech.

“An over-exuberant fan surpassed our security at ringside and made his way briefly into the ring,” a statement from WWE later said. “The individual has been turned over to the proper authorities.”

A spokesperson for the New York Police Department said the fan, a 26-year-old man, is believed to have punched Hart at least once during the incident. He is said to be being held at a police station in Brooklyn while charges against him are being filed.
