It was previously suspected he suffered a heart attack
Shane Warne‘s cause of death has been determined after an autopsy concluded that the 52-year-old cricket legend died of natural causes on March 4, 2022.
The Australian star’s sudden death came as a huge shock and it had been suspected that he may have suffered a heart attack while over in Thailand.
While a heart attack can be considered under natural causes – especially when linked to an existing condition – there is currently no additional detail specifying whether this was the case.

Friends and medics are said to have worked tirelessly to try and revive Warne after he was found unresponsive in the villa he was staying in while on holiday but he was sadly pronounced dead aged just 52.
Speaking in a statement, Thai deputy national police spokesman Kissana Phathanacharoen confirmed that “investigators received the autopsy result, in which the medical opinion is that the cause of death is natural”.
A national hero, Warne will be given a state funeral for his services to sport and his country.

Warne is, without doubt, one of the finest bowlers in cricketing history. The leg spinner took 708 Test match wickets for Australia over the course of his 15-year international career.
He also claimed 293 dismissals in 194 one-day internationals, helping Australia to victory in the 1999 World Cup in England. Warne retired in 2007 but continued to play T20 cricket until 2013; he was inducted into the ICC Hall of Fame that same year.
