The Irishman says he will make a return to the boxing ring

Conor McGregor has tonight made a huge announcement – saying that he will return to boxing, next fighting Manny Pacquiao in the Middle East.

The UFC star last fought in a boxing ring in 2017, where he was stopped by Floyd Mayweather in the tenth round of their bout.

McGregor has been quiet on social media lately – until tonight, when he broke his silence with a series of tweets announcing his return.

He began his Friday night tirade by sharing screenshots of a private conversation between him and Dana White, President of UFC.

McGregor expressed his frustration at not being offered a fight by White.

He said: “I was pushing hard for the season. Multiple opponents, multiple dates offered throughout. All to take place back to back. Then when covid hit and the talk was that I would have to wait for crowds again, I walked away from the situation. I was waiting long enough at that stage.”

Then, The Notorious dropped the bombshell news that what went on between him and the UFC was all “water under the bridge” because he had agreed a comeback fight. Just in the boxing ring instead.

He said: “Anyway all water under the bridge who gives a fook. I’m boxing Manny Pacquiao next in the Middle East.”

McGregor says: “It will be a true honour to have faced two of the greatest boxers of the modern era, afraid of a fight.”

At the moment, we’ve only got Conor McGregor’s word for it.

Even as he announced his comeback against Pacquiao, McGregor couldn’t resist a jab at Mayweather and Pacquiao.
