Conor McGregor is incredible at two things… Fighting and hyping fights.
We’re definitely going to see the latter at McGregor’s press conference with Khabib Nurmagomedov on Thursday night and for all we know, we could see some of the former too.
‘The Notorious’ has been known to throw cans of energy drink and grab steel chairs when tested at press conferences in the past so tonight’s encounter ought to be interesting.
It’s been almost two years since McGregor has set foot in the Octagon and neither of the two belts that he hoisted aloft after his unforgettable victory over Eddie Alvarez at UFC 205 belong to him now.
But McGregor will get the chance to reclaim the lightweight throne with a win over the undefeated Nurmagomedov at UFC 229 on October 6.
The Irishman will get the chance to verbally spar Nurmagomedov in New York tonight and you can watch their first coming-together live below.
UFC President Dana White reckons the meeting of two of the sport’s greatest ever 155lbers will result in the organisation’s best ever pay-per-view return.
“It’s massive,” White told ESPN. “There has been a lot of talk about this thing doing 2 million buys.
“We’re trending right now at 2.5 million buys so that’s how big this fight is. The biggest fight we’d ever done was Diaz vs. McGregor at almost 1.6 million pay-per-view buys. Then we did the Floyd Mayweather fight.
“And now this by far is the biggest fight and one of the biggest fights ever in combat sports to be honest with you.”
