A touch of class from Carvajal
Luke Shaw was left unconscious after colliding with Dani Carvajal during England’s match against Spain on Saturday night. He was attended to by physios and paramedics for more than five minutes before being taken off on a stretcher and undergoing X-rays to assess the damage.
Carvajal stood by as Shaw was treated, visibly concerned by the damage caused by the collision.
As reported by Marca, Carvajal went straight to the England changing room after the match to check on Luke Shaw’s wellbeing. The England player wasn’t there at the time, but Carvajal got his phone number from David De Gea, Shaw’s club teammate, and sent the player an apologetic message, assuring him there was no malicious intent in the challenge.
Shaw then reportedly responded, acknowledging that it was an accident, and reassuring Carvajal that he did not think the Spain right-back had any intention of injuring him.
Shaw tweeted after the game, telling his fans the same message: that he is ‘a fighter’ and will be back on the pitch soon.
Thank you for all the love and support I am doing fine and am in the best hands. I’m a fighter so I will be back soon! ❤💪🏼
