As opponents go, Tyson Fury must be up there with the most difficult to prepare for
Few heavyweights are even capable of moving like Fury in the ring but WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder is doing his best to get himself ready for the unusual but remarkably effective style of ‘The Gypsy King’ ahead of their clash next month.
While Fury is working with big punchers like Joe Joyce in sparring to prepare for the power of ‘The Bronze Bomber’, Wilder has drafted in heavyweight veteran Malik Scott to provide him with some semblance of what he can expect from the undefeated Brit on December 1.
FightHype recently got access to Wilder’s training camp and there was no mistaking what Scott was attempting as he worked with the American.
Scott mimicked Fury’s herky-jerky motion, repeatedly put his hands behind his back and even replicated his unorthodox head movement in the corner in an attempt to get Wilder ready for the challenge ahead.
Explaining what he was doing, Scott said he was giving Wilder a look of “the fast-twitch, hands behind the back, hit the floor, hit your head and then throw a right.
“Tyson does the most awkward things so I just try my best to emulate him and have Deontay in shape.”
