It’s almost like we shouldn’t be taking this trend seriously…
Floyd Mayweather has intimated that his exhibition fight against YouTube and influencer turned ‘boxer’ Logan Paul wasn’t a “real” fight and more just a bit of “fun”.
Mayweather was speaking at the WBC Convention on Thursday when talkSPORT’s Michael Benson quoted him as saying that “People have gotta know, there’s a difference between a real fight and an exhibition”.
Floyd Mayweather: "I did an exhibition with the YouTuber Logan Paul. We had fun. People have gotta know, there's a difference between a real fight and an exhibition. All I did was work out from time to time. If it was a real fight, it would've been a blowout in the first round."

The 44-year-old, who retired with a perfect record of 50-0, went on to suggest that as well as just having “fun […] If it was a real fight, it would’ve been a blowout in the first round.” We don’t doubt it.
The former seasoned professional went the distance with the 26-year-old who first made his name on the now-defunct social media app, Vine, with the pair duking it out for eight rounds in a fight which ended with no winner – at least officially.
Mayweather himself even admitted that he’d “robbed” those who paid to see the event which ended in boos and was wildly panned as an embarrassment that was no real reflection on the actual sport.
While it was pretty clear who actually won if there were scorecards (take a guess), Paul said while still in the ring after the fight that the fact he was even on the canvas proved that “the odds can be beat”, labelling himself “the Maverick” and adding “I go right when they go left”.
When replays seemed to show Mayweather knocking out the amateur, he also responded in similar defiance, claiming: “He tried to take me out and he couldn’t”. Ok, champ.
As for his brother Jake Paul, who is set to fight Tommy Fury on December 18th, he also claimed he is “the best thing that’s happened to boxing in a century“. Guess you could say this family is pretty humble.
