I LOVE THIS GAME
Germany’s 2-1 win over Sweden was a thriller. Sweden took an early lead through Ola Toivonen and went into the half-time break 1-0 up. But Germany were not going to let their hopes of retaining the World Cup escape them after just two matches.
An early goal from Marco Reus put them in good stead to claim victory, although they left it until injury time to grab the winning goal. Toni Kroos’ free kick from a tight angle in the 95th minute flew past Robin Olsen into the far corner of the net. Germany had done it. Die Mannschaft now enter their third group game against South Korea with three points, likely to double their tally and go through in second place.
In the ITV studio after the game, former Manchester United player Patrice Evra, who has been working as a pundit during the tournament, summarised everyone’s thoughts when he brought out his catchphrase made famous via his Instagram videos: “I love this game!”

Patrice Evra won’t be returning to the ITV studio for the knockout stages, as he returns to West Ham for pre-season. Newly appointed Hammers boss Manuel Pellegrini will want to get his squad as fit as possible before the transfer window closes and the season starts in early August.
