Penny for Conte’s thoughts.
Poor Antonio Conte. 15 points behind Man City in the league, barely scraping past Norwich in the FA Cup and now, suffering a major setback in his bid to sign Andy Carroll from West Ham. Even the champions’ own fans are storming the pitch at Stamford Bridge and with a potential transfer ban looming large, things aren’t getting any better.
Oh yeah, they’ve also got the small task of beating Barcelona in the last 16 of the Champions League. Fun!
Craig Bellamy has made his views on Andy Carroll very clear but with the news that the former Liverpool and Newcastle United striker is facing an extended spell on the sidelines due to an ankle injury, the club has turned their attention to Stoke City’s Peter Crouch.
The Telegraph have reported that Crouch is now at the top of Conte’s shopping list and that they’ve already made inquiries about his availability. It’s reported that Stoke fancy a straight up deal but the champions are pushing for a loan move.
This being said, Crouch is set to turn 37 soon and he’s not exactly what you would call a long-term prospect. Given that the Crouch news was revealed so close to the revelation about Chelsea’s potential transfer ban, you can see what football fans were thinking.
In fact, Chelsea fans even joined in on the same joke.
Hurry up and ban us before we sign Crouch or Carroll 😂😂 https://t.co/tAMQYl9ZlB
