Ugly scenes marred the pre-match atmosphere outside Anfield.
With just 30 minutes to go until kick-off in the Champions League semi-final first leg, a group of men believed to be Roma supporters attacked several Liverpool fans.

The incident occurred close to the Albert Pub and one man appeared to be seriously injured following the attack.
Reports from the stadium claim that he was stabbed during the melee which began when the assailants charged some home supporters near the Shankly Statue.

An increased police presence was expected at the ground following the attack on Manchester City’s bus as it arrived for the quarter-final first leg earlier this month.
