Romero has finally found himself a new club
Former Manchester United goalkeeper Sergio Romero has finally found himself a new club, signing for Serie A side Venezia on a free.
The Argentina international, now 34, had officially left Old Trafford at the end of last season, though endured a miserable final year as a United player after being denied the chance to leave the club the previous summer.
Romero spent several months of last season in his native Argentina and at one stage was linked with a move to Boca Juniors. Though he was pictured back in Manchester towards the end of the campaign, he has been back in Buenos Aires ever since his release by United – posting several videos to his Instagram of him keeping up his fitness regime ahead of joining a new club.

The goalkeeper had appeared on the cusp of a move to Everton on transfer deadline day a year ago, only for United to block the move. This prompted an angry response from his wife, Eliana Guercio, who posted a scathing post to her Instagram account pleading for United to let her husband leave.
Romero had been understudy to David De Gea for the majority of his six years at Old Trafford. The Spaniard was one of several United players to wish him well for the future when he left in the summer, with some interpreting his farewell message to be a subtle dig at the way he had been treated in Manchester.
Romero’s new club, Venezia, were promoted to Serie A at the end of last season – marking a return to Italy’s top flight after two decades away. They are currently 17th in the division, with former Bristol City goalkeeper Niki Maenpaa named as their first-choice goalkeeper for the majority of the season so far.
