With the new season underway, there’s very little for football kit enthusiasts to get excited about
Most home and away shirts for all of Europe’s major clubs were released a couple of months back… Most, not all. With Cristiano Ronaldo’s official debut out of the way, Juventus have now released their official away kit for the season ahead.
Made by adidas, the ‘pastel sand’ coloured kit has been designed to maximise style and wearability.
The shirt features a button collar as well as accented cuffs – finished off with the Italian champions’ famous white and black stripes.
“Working with Juventus, the history of the club serves as both inspiration and ambition,” said Francesca Venturini, designer at adidas.
“Our goal is to take the iconic design elements associated with the club and inject them with contemporary style that makes the jersey work for fans in the street just as well as players in the stadium.
“With this new sand away kit, we have produced a design that is both classical and contemporary and gives a fresh new look to a famous jersey.”
Ronaldo’s first official appearance for his new club came in Verona on Saturday (in their new third kit). The Portugal captain was unable to get himself on the scoresheet in the 3-2 win over Chievo, the Bianconeri’s winner coming courtesy of Federico Bernardeschi in the third minute of stoppage time.
Mario Mandzukic had appeared to score for Juve seconds before Bernardeschi’s winner. However, a collision between Ronaldo and Chievo goalkeeper Stefano Sorrentino saw the Croatian’s effort ruled out.
Ronaldo inadvertently kneed Sorrentino in the face, causing the goalkeeper to be substituted. After the match, Ronaldo sent a message of support to the the 39-yer-old which was clearly well received.
