Yoan Zouma filmed the video
Kurt Zouma’s younger brother Yoan has been suspended from playing for Dagenham and Redbridge until the RSPCA have completed their investigation into the disturbing video of the West Ham player kicking his cat.
The elder brother has been subject to public outrage after The Sun published a video recorded on Snapchat by his sibling in which they both laughed as the defenceless animal was physically abused.
Sponsors have been dropping like flies, with adidas ending their partnership with the defender and Vitality suspending their partnership with West Ham. Zouma was also fined £250,000 by the club.
Meanwhile, a petition demanding the 28-year-old be prosecuted is nearing 300,000 signatures.
While Kurt was selected to play for West Ham in the immediate aftermath of the video on Tuesday night – a decision that went down like a led balloon among fans nation wide – his brother Yoan has now been suspended by fifth tier side Dagenham.
A club statement read: “The club would like to give a further update on its player, Yoan Zouma.
“Yoan was this week contacted by the RSPCA to assist in their investigation and is fully cooperating with them.
“However, Dagenham & Redbridge FC would again like to reiterate that it condemns any form of cruelty towards animals and fully understands the reaction of many of its supporters.
“The club has therefore decided that until the RSPCA has completed its investigations, Yoan will not play for Dagenham & Redbridge in any competitive match.
“Any further action deemed necessary to be taken will be made at the conclusion of the RSPCA investigation.”
