Done deal… Or at least it will be soon enough.
Liverpool appear to have completed the signing of Brazilian international goalkeeper Alisson Becker, subject to the player passing a medical on Merseyside.
The 25-year-old is expected in Liverpool by the end of Wednesday, with Sky Italy reporting he will finalise his move from AS Roma after he completes a medical in the days ahead. Sky Italy also claim that personal terms have been agreed and that he will sign a five-year deal at Anfield.
He is expected to cost Liverpool €75m (£67m). This will almost double the £34.7m Manchester City paid Benfica for Ederson a year ago, a fee which became a world record for a goalkeeper at the time.
Alisson featured for Roma against Liverpool in the Champions League semi-finals last season, unable to prevent the Italian club from losing 7-6 on aggregate.
He is poised to be the fourth major signing for Liverpool this summer, following the arrivals of Naby Keita from Red Bull Leipzig, Fabinho from AS Monaco and Xherdan Shaqiri from Stoke City.
It remains to be seen if Liverpool also reignite their interest in Lyon’s Nabil Fekir, whose move to the club collapsed earlier in the summer. Despite this, reports have suggested Jurgen Klopp may make another attempt to sign him with claims in the French media adding they have set themselves a deadline to get the transfer done.
