Manchester United recorded a dramatic win over Paris Saint-Germain on Wednesday night
PSG and their supporters really aren’t taking their Champions League exit too well, are they?
Despite kicking off their last 16 second leg against Manchester United in a commanding position, the French champions lost 3-1 in the Parc des Princes on Wednesday, enough for them to go out on the away goals rule.
The fact that Marcus Rashford landed the knockout blow from a controversially awarded stoppage time penalty made the defeat all the more difficult to stomach for the Parisians.
Neymar, who missed the game through injury, has made his feelings about the officiating known in the time since, with Uefa feeling the need to provide an explanation as to why the crucial penalty was given.
PSG’s fans are clearly quite upset too. As well as reports in France claiming some of them will boycott their next away game to show how disappointed they are at the defeat, there’s this – footage of one supporter smashing his television screen in the seconds after Rashford had scored.
The video – which, of course, was completely spontaneous and definitely not staged – has been widely circulated since the end of the game. It shows a man launching a table at the tv, its screen instantly blacking out. After a few more blows, the screen shatters, a leg falls off the table and PSG are still out of the Champions League.
Here, have a watch. We particularly enjoy how he makes the effort to place an empty beer can on the tv unit before smashing the room up. That makes a difference.
