After Manchester United dropped yet more points in the Premier League following their 1-1 draw at home to Southampton, Cristiano Ronaldo appeared to accidentally spit on fellow forward Anthony Elanga.
In the clip from BT Sport’s coverage – which has been shared extensively across social media and even slowed down in almost Match of the Day-esque analysis – you can see Ronaldo accidentally spit on Elanga and the young winger recoil as he feels CR7’s spittle hit his back.

While some wrote “I hope this was an accident”, most were quick to point out that it was clearly an accident and any suggestion of feuding between the 37-year-old and his 19-year-old teammate is entirely unfounded.
Ronaldo was one of the first to go over and console Elanga after he missed the penalty that sent United crashing out of the FA Cup against Middlesbrough, a result that unfortunately ended in racist abuse being targeted at the young Swedish player.

Saints’ manager Ralph Hasenhüttl diagnosed the Red Devil’s chronic defensive issues in a brutally honest post-match conference, stating that one of their most pressing issues (pardon the pun) “is not a big secret”.
A funny yet gross little moment – an oddly fitting way to describe the moment United currently going throw, one might say.
