If you break one hand, you punch with the other but what happens when you break both?
Scott Holtzman refused to let something silly like breaking both hands get in the way of pulverising the face of opponent Alan Patrick in the preliminary card opener of UFC 229 on Saturday night.
Holtzman secured the biggest win of his mixed martial arts career to date in a barn-burner of a fight against the Brazilian and provided us with an early highlight of the night.
‘Hot Sauce’ moved to 12-2 with his third consecutive victory and he was forced to think on his feet after his two most reliable weapons were effectively taken away from him.
To be fair to Holtzman, he continued to throw his broken hands and it was a picture-perfect right that sent Patrick to the mat in the third round of their lightweight meeting.

What Joe Rogan described as “some of the best push-off elbows I’ve seen in a long time” from Holtzman bounced Patrick’s head off the mat and the third one put him to sleep.
“Both hands are broken, I’m pretty sure,” Holtzman said in his post-fight interview. “I’ve been through a lot of hand injuries.”
“My left hand was hurt. I think I hurt it on the hook in the first round,” Holtzman continued.
“I knew he was coming and I had to be a matador. I started to pick up on his timing in the third round and took advantage of it.”
