‘There’s a long way to go yet.’
Talks have commenced between representatives of Jake Paul and Tommy Fury over a future fight, Fury’s promoter Frank Warren has revealed to IFL TV.
The pair have been engaged in a war of words for months, with Fury telling Paul to ‘stick to YouTube’ and calling him a ‘massive pussy’ six months ago.
Jake Paul, who rose to fame on YouTube as a content creator, has an impressive record of four wins, no draws and no losses in his brief boxing career. But now he wants to fight “a real boxer” and take on and named Tommy Fury as the opponent he wants to face next.
“I want to fight a real boxer. We’ll see what the cards have in store,” Paul said on the Full Send Podcast.
“I think Tommy Fury is probably the top of that list. He’s skilled, he’s undefeated, and he’s a real boxer.”
Fury, half-brother of Tyson, came face to face with Paul in a heated exchange backstage after the latter’s victory over Paul Woodley. Fury told Paul he “needed to stop running,” before repeatedly shouting “take the fight.”
And it seems as though they will both get their wish, if talks go smoothly.
Warren told IFL TV: “We are talking at the moment, so hopefully something may happen, we’ll see. There’s a long way to go yet.”
