Someone changed the iconic Hollywood signs to say something very different

Only two letters were changed.

How did they get away with it?

Someone managed to change the iconic Hollywood sign early on New Year’s Day.

The two “o” letters were altered to make them into “e” letters making the sign read Hollyweed instead of Hollywood.

It was left for long enough that people got some pictures of it, including Snoop Dogg.

While the letters weren’t damaged permanently, because they were altered with black and white material, the people responsible could be charged with trespassing.

Sergeant Guy Juneau from the Los Angeles Police Department’s Security Service’s branch told the Los Angeles Times that one person was caught on CCTV climbing Mount Lee before draping four bits of material over the two “o” letters.

Interestingly, it’s not the first time the sign has been altered to read Hollyweed having first been changed in 1976, also on New Year’s Day.

The person responsible back then, Daniel Finegood, did it for an art class assignment.
