Two French police officers have been killed in a shooting incident in central Paris.
The person who fired on police at the Champs-Elysees has also been killed.
Speaking with the Associated Press, Johanna Primevert spokeswoman for the Paris police, stated that ” the attacker targeted police guarding the area near the Franklin Roosevelt subway station.”
Police authorities have called on the public to avoid the area.
According to Reuters, a spokesperson for the French Interior Ministry has stated that it’s too early to identify a motive in the attack and that the officers were deliberately targeted.
French President Francois Hollande has scheduled an emergency meeting following these shootings.
