All senior royal staff have been summoned to a meeting at Buckingham Palace this morning.
A report in the Daily Mail claims that the staff of Balmoral in Scotland and other royal residences across Britain including Windsor and Sandringham, will be addressed by the Lord Chamberlain, the most senior officer of the Royal Household and the Queen’s right-hand man, Private Secretary Sir Christopher Geidt in London.
‘Everyone is on tenterhooks,’ a staff member told the newspaper.
‘Although meetings involving the entire royal household are occasionally called, the way this has been done at the eleventh hour is highly unusual and suggests that there is something major to be disseminated.
‘But at the moment, only those closest to her genuinely know what on earth this is all about.’
A source close to the royal family was quick to dismiss rumours that the meeting has anything to do with the health of Queen Elizabeth (91) and Prince Phillip (96).
“There’s no cause for alarm,” the anonymous source told Reuters.
