Jeremy Corbyn has been made the favourite to become the next Prime Minister.
According to Betfair Exchange, the Labour leader is now considered more likely to lead the country than current PM, Theresa May.
The exit polls on Thursday night indicated that the result of the election would be a hung parliament, with the Conservatives falling 12 seats short of taking the 326 needed for an absolute majority in the House of Commons.
Some of that effect is likely because of the surge in Corbyn’s chances have led people to put bets on in the hope of a payout. Others will be because punters are betting on other Tories, amid speculation that Ms May might be forced to step down.
Corbyn released a short statement in the early hours of Friday morning in which he thanked those that had voted for Labour’s manifesto.
Explaining that his team had worked hard in recent weeks, he added that regardless of the final result, the campaign had ‘changed politics for the better’.
