Lara Croft’s origin concludes.
Lara Croft is about to return to cinemas, with the new Alicia Vikander-starring Tomb Riader movie hitting screens this weekend. But she’s also heading back to where she belongs: videogames.
The long-running series was rebooted with 2013’s simply titled Tomb Raider, which went back in time to tell the origins of the games’ iconic protagonist. That was followed up by 2015’s critically acclaimed Rise of the Tomb Raider. Rumours of a conclusion to the trilogy have swirled for a while, but now we finally have confirmation.
Shadow of the Tomb Raider be released on September 14, and according to the press release, will “deliver Lara Croft’s defining moment”, whatever that means. It will hit Xbox One, PS4 and PC simultaneously, unlike Rise, which was originally an Xbox exclusive.
Here’s the first, very brief, teaser trailer.
Full details will be revealed on April 27, with a special website offering fans a chance of playing the game early at yet-to-be-revealed special events.
