Mark Fontaine was 41 years old when he was fatally stabbed
A teenage boy has been charged with murder after Mark Fontaine was stabbed to death in Chelsea on May 31.
The 14-year-old boy has been remanded in custody and will appear at the Old Bailey on Thursday June 7.
Another boy, who is 17 years old, has also been arrested on suspicion of murder and is in custody at a north London police station.
Police responded to a stabbing on Cathcart Road in Kensington and Chelsea at 10.21pm on May 31 along with paramedics. There they found Mr Fontaine, who had multiple stab wounds.
He died there, shortly after 11pm.
The killing is the 43rd fatal stabbing in London and one of around 70 murder investigations launched by the Metropolitan Police this year.
Mayor of London Sadiq Khan said in a statement that he was “deeply saddened to learn of the fatal stabbing of a man in Kensington last night and my thoughts are with his friends and family.”
He added “The police are doing everything in their power to bring those responsible to justice.”
Kensington MP Emma Dent Coad said she was “devastated to hear of another life lost on the street in Kensington.”
A Met Police spokesperson said: “Officers attended along with London Ambulance Service. A 41-year-old man was found with multiple stab wounds.
“Despite the best efforts of the medical teams, he died at the scene shortly after 11pm and his next of kin have been informed.
“He has since been formally identified as 41-year-old Mark Fontaine of Walthamstow.”
