Unlike many people of his generation, Pope Francis can’t be accused of ignoring developments in technology.
His Twitter account dispenses more quotable wisdom than anyone this side of Jaden Smith, with his pensive one-liners somehow given an added gravitas.
Life is a precious gift, but we realize this only when we give it to others.

And if that wasn’t enough, reports out of Uruguay claim that his old iPad, a gift to priest Gonzalo Aemilius, has been auctioned off for charity.
Presumably donated after the Pope upgraded to a newer model, the iPad sold at auction for $30,500, according to Reuters. Proceeds will go to a school for the poor, to the north of Uruguay’s capital Montevideo.
Just $30,500? That’s a mere fraction of the price fetched by the Pope’s Harley-Davidson in 2013.
His Holiness has referred to himself as ‘a dinosaur’ when it comes to computers, so we reckon he’s probably kept things simple on the iPad. Probably just the default apps, plus Twitter and Instagram.
Oh, and Candy Crush of course. Even life in the Vatican allows for the occasional bit of downtime.
