This is what the PlayStation 5 start-up noise sounds like

The most important part of any new video game console

The start-up sound of the PlayStation 5 appears to have been revealed – in a Burger King advert.

You might be thinking, that’s not actually a very important thing to know about a new console. And on one hand, you’d be right.

But on the other hand, think how much the start-up sounds and menu music of consoles take you back to playing certain machines. All the PlayStation start-up sounds are iconic. So is the Gamecube’s bouncing purple cube, that has lead to so many memes. Or there is also the timeless Wii Shop music.

Anyway, Burger King tweeted a short video of the Burger King himself looking in a takeaway bag, with the question: “do Whopper sandwiches normally do this?”

The official PlayStation account then quote-tweeted them, with the eyes and ear emojis. Which would suggest the sound and blue lights are the PlayStation 5 booting up.

It is certainly an interesting way to reveal a sound that gamers are likely to hear over and over again once they get their hands on the console.

The PlayStation 5 launches on November 12th in the US and Japan, and a week later on November 19th in the UK.

Launch titles to look forward to include Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales, the follow up to hit PlayStation exclusive superhero game, where you play as Miles instead of Peter Parker; the remake of cult favourite Demon Souls; and the latest Assassin’s Creed game, Valhalla.

There are also the standard sports and racing franchises, and the games you would expect to be on every system, like FIFA21, Dirt 5, and Fortnite.

Upcoming first-party titles include Horizon: Forbidden West, Gran Turismo 7, Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart, and a new God of War game.

Other big exclusives to keep an eye on are Final Fantasy XVI, third-person shooter Returnal, and scary looking first-person horror title Ghostwire: Tokyo.
