Hannibal season 4 talks ‘revitalised’ due to its popularity on Netflix, says Mads Mikkelsen

Could we be about to get more Hannibal?

Mads Mikkelsen says that a new season of Hannibal is becoming more likely due to the show’s popularity on Netflix and other streaming services.

Hannibal concluded in 2015, but the star says that the amount of people discovering the show on streaming means that a revival could be on the cards.

Speaking on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, Mikkelsen said that since the show “has found a new home on Netflix,” the talks about a fourth season “have been revitalised.”

“I don’t think you’d find a member of the cast that is still alive that would say, ‘No, thanks.’ We all enjoyed it tremendously.”

Though while it sounds like Mikkelson would love to make more episodes, he did say that he was happy with the show’s conclusion and doesn’t feel like it ended unfinished.

“Unfinished? No,” he explained. “Creative showrunners always have a way to end the season because no one knows if there’s going to be a next one. So there was always that feeling of, ‘Well, that was it.'”

“Having said that, the third season, after that, we were pretty sure we’re getting a fourth. That was not the feeling after the first or the second. But the third [season], we were pretty sure.”

Hannibal ran for three seasons between 2013 and 2015.

Whether or not the fourth season happens, Mads Mikkelsen has a busy future ahead as hell will be replacing Johnny Depp as Grindelwald in Fantastic Beasts 3.

Johnny Depp was dropped from the franchise earlier this month, after he lost his high-profile libel case against The Sun over the newspaper’s reporting of his violence towards his ex-wife Amber Heard.

Fantastic Beasts 3 was due to start filming in March but was delayed because of the coronavirus, and shooting restarted in September. The film’s release date was recently shifted from November 2021 to summer 2022 following the departure of Depp.
