Trolls slammed for claiming The Simpsons ‘predicted’ Astroworld tragedy

Some have been wildly claiming that the show predicted the Astroworld tragedy

Social media users have been suggesting that The Simpsons “predicted” the tragic events at Travis Scott’s Astroworld concert, in which eight people lost their lives after a crowd surge.

Along with an image of Homer and Lisa walking into the mouth of a giant head which looks very similar to the artwork on the rapper’s Astroworld album and the stage layout seen at previous versions of the festival, some have also been sharing a clip of Marge where she takes Maggie to see the kids’ performer Roofi, and an episode in which Bart and Milhouse attend a Spinal Tap gig.

In the clip of Marge and Maggie, Marge says: “This concert is oversold. It’s as if a music promoter acted unscrupulously.”

And in the Bart and Milhouse clip, a riot breaks out at the event after the band end their set early.

The image that looks like the Astroworld album cover though is in fact not from any episode of the Simpsons and is just a piece of fan art that was created in 2018 by Liam Ayson.

Those claiming that the cartoon predicted the events in Houston have been slammed online for trying to make the comparison.

One Twitter user said: “If I see one more idiot 19 y/o on TikTok talk about ‘The Simpsons predicted Astroworld.”

Another added: “Do u know how stupid u gotta be to believe the Simpsons predicted Astroworld. Like even the flat earthers are more logical than y’all I swear it is WILD” (SIC).

Of course, there have been famous examples in the past of The Simpsons appearing to have mystic powers.

Previous events that the show seems to have predicted include Richard Branson flying to space, the recent fuel shortage and – perhaps most famously – Trump becoming the US president.
