Elon Musk reveals the three things that he think could end humanity forever

Climate change isn’t one of them

Elon Musk has revealed what he believes are the biggest ‘existential threats’ that humanity faces, and there is one that stands out above all else for him.

In an interview with Axel Springer CEO Mathias Döpfner, the Tesla founder was asked what his “biggest fear” is.

He responded: “What are the existential threats that humanity faces? I spent a lot of time talking about the birthrate thing. That might be the single biggest threat to the future of human civilization.”

He claimed that “most people in the world are operating under the false impression that we’ve got too many people” but that in fact the “birth rate has been dropping like crazy.”

Musk added that he thinks the United Nations needs to amend its population estimates because they “don’t make any sense.”

According to the US Centers for Disease and Control Prevention (CDC), between 2019 and 2020 the country saw its lowest number of births since 1979.

Along with declining birth rates, Musk revealed that “artificial intelligence going wrong” and “religious extremism” are the other two biggest existential threats that humanity faces in his opinion.

The 50-year-old said that he approaches AI and robotics with “some trepidation” because he doesn’t “want to have anything that could potentially be harmful to humanity.”

In a lengthy interview, Musk also said the human race “will solve the climate issue,” and it is “just a question of when.”

He explained that in the future he believes “most of civilization’s energy is going to come from solar [power],” but that before then it was “total madness” to be shutting down nuclear power.

And his biggest hope for the future? That humanity “creates a self-sustaining city on Mars.”

Maybe one day Elon, maybe one day…
