German police have given an update on the Munich shootings which left nine people dead and 27 injured after a lone gunman went on a rampage around a shopping mall.
Speaking at press conference, the German authorities believe there are “no indications whatsoever that the gunman had links to Islamic State” and that the shooter was “on his own”.
The attacker was 18-years-old and was born and raised in Munich. The police revealed that the attacker was also undergoing psychiatric treatment and had no previous criminal records.
After raiding his room and contents, the police discovered that the attacker had around 300 bullets in his backpack and a book about shootings was found in his bedroom.
No motive for the German-Iranian man’s actions has yet been established.
