Former Porn Star Ron Jeremy could be sentenced to 90 years behind bars
Former porn star Ron Jeremy has been indicted on more than thirty counts of sexual assault involving over twenty victims and spanning over two decades. The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office confirmed that the indictment had replaced the criminal complaint from 2020.
Jeremy has denied all wrongdoing and pleaded not guilty. Jeremy pleads not guilty to:
- Twelve counts of forcible rape
- Seven counts of forcible oral copulation
- Six counts of sexual battery by restraint
- Four counts of sexual penetration by a foreign object
- Two counts of sexual penetration of an unconscious or asleep person
- One count of lewd act upon a child under the age of 15
- One count of sodomy by use of force and assault with intent to commit rape
Prosecutors first charged Jeremy with four counts of rape in June 2020, allegedlt preying upon vulnerable victims inside bars along West Hollywood’s famous Sunset Strip. Following the initial investigation, the L.A. County Sheriff’s Department and the district attorney’s office received dozens of additional complaints of sexual misconduct. These included a report from a 15-year-old girl in Santa Clarita.
“Far too often, survivors of sexual assault suffer in isolation,” said District Attorney, George Gascon.
“We must ensure that survivors have all options available to help with recovery, including trauma-informed services for healing and support to report such crimes.”
He has remained in jail since being arrested last summer on $6.6m (£4.8m) bail and is said to return to court on 12 October for a pretrial conference. If convicted as charged, the 69-year-old faces a possible maximum sentence of 90 years to life.
