Sir Richard Sutton died of stab wounds at his home in Dorset in April
The stepson of one of the UK’s richest men has admitted killing him.
Thomas Schreiber denied murdering Sir Richard Sutton who was stabbed to death at his home near Gillingham, Dorset, in April, but admitted his manslaughter on Monday, the BBC reported.
The 34-year-old entered a not guilty plea at Winchester Crown Court to the attempted murder of his mother Anne Schreiber, who was Sutton’s partner.
At the same hearing, he pleaded guilty to a charge of driving a Range Rover dangerously on the A303, A4, and M3.
Rob Welling, prosecuting, told the court that the manslaughter plea was not acceptable to the Crown Prosecution Service and the case would proceed to trial on November 29, MailOnline reported.
The judge, Mr Justice Garnham, remanded Schreiber in custody.
Sutton, 83, was listed at number 435 in the Sunday Times Rich List last year, with an estimated family fortune of £301 million – a rise of £83 million on the previous year.

Police were called to Sutton’s home in Higher Langham around 73opm on 7 April. There they found the property tycoon and Anne Schreiber with serious injuries.
Sutton was pronounced dead at the scene almost two hours later.
Police previously said that a post-mortem had indicated Sutton had died of stab wounds to his chest.
Anne Schreiber was airlifted to Southmead Hospital in Bristol.
The Rich List said Sutton’s company owned London hotels the Sheraton Grand Park Lane and the Athenaeum, plus three smaller venues and noted that he had an extensive property and farming portfolio, including the 6,500-acre Benham Estate in west Berkshire and the Stainton Estate in Lincolnshire.
