When sending an important email, it can be stressful figuring what is the most appropriate way to end it.
If it’s work-related, you want to be approachable, but not over-friendly, and that can be a hard one to crack.
However, the experts have given their suggestion for the best way to sign-off.
It needs to be simply “best”.
Aliza Licht, author of the career guide, Leave Your Mark, Will Schwalbe, co- author of SEND: Why People Email So Badly and How to Do It Better, and business etiquette expert Barbara Pachter all agree that “best” is the way forward because it is safe, inoffensive and appropriate for most situations.
Sign-offs to steer way from, according to the experts, are “thanks”, “thanks so much”, (premature gratitude) “your sincerely”, “yours faithfully” (too stuffy) and talk soon (too casual).
