Sasha Johnson was shot on Sunday morning
Sasha Johnson, the political activist and member of the political party, Taking the Initiative (TTIP), was shot in the head around 3am in Peckham on Sunday, May 23. She remains hospitalised in a critical condition.
The 27-year-old mum of two was rushed to hospital following the incident in Southwark, South London. Though the police did not confirm her identity, Taking the Initiative reached out on social media to inform people that it is believed Johnson is the victim.
As the party confirms, Johnson had received “numerous death threats as a result of her activism” prior to the attack. You can read their full statement on Instagram below:

A graduate of Oxford, Johnson is an active member of the party’s leadership as well as a continued BLM activist, helping organise the Million People March; TTIP describes her as “a strong, powerful voice for our people and our community”.

Detective Chief Inspector Jimi Tele said in a statement: “This was a shocking incident that has left a young woman with very serious injuries. Our thoughts are with her family who are being provided with support at this terribly difficult time.”
Though it is thought no arrests have yet been made, Tele said detectives are making “good progress” in finding the attackers and reiterated that anyone from the general public with any information should come forward.
