David Cameron is well and truly outta here.
Just weeks after Britain opted to leave the European Union – something the Conservative leader campaigned against – it’s all change at No.1o, with Theresa May expected to become Prime Minister of the UK on Wednesday.
And how does Mr Cameron feel about his imminent resignation just over a year after being re-elected? Not too bad, judging by his cheerful humming seconds after making the formal announcement.
The PM appeared before the press outside his home on Monday afternoon, confirming that he will step down after his final Prime Minister’s Questions on Wednesday. After making his brief statement, he span around and headed back towards his front door. Seemingly forgetting he was still hooked up to a microphone, Mr Cameron started humming a jolly tune, before closing the door behind him and saying,”right” to quite possibly nobody but himself.
It was sort of like a Brexit-themed Monty Python sketch, but real. Have a watch.

Naturally, internet chat around what will probably end up being referred to as “hum-gate” has centred on exactly what the Prime Minister was humming. The popular and probably most appropriate choice seems to be the theme tune from political drama The West Wing, but that wasn’t the only suggestion.
