Our Prime Minister once tried to buy drugs from KGB agents, according to revelations in Lord Ashcroft’s new book.
The alleged incident happened when David Cameron was on a gap year holiday with a fellow Eton toff in the Crimea, as an 18-year-old.
According to the story in Ashcroft’s unauthorised biography, Cameron and his pal were approached by a pair of Russian spies, one of whom was Igor Kuznetsov, who would go on to become a KGB colonel.
The Mirror reports the Russians even tried to snare Mr Cameron, who was oblivious to proceedings, with a honeytrap.
According to a quote attributed to Kuznetsov: “David Cameron kept going but asked us to find some ‘grass’ for him or maybe something stronger. We promised to do it the next day.”
No doubt the spies were hoping that he’d act as the another kind of ‘grass’…
