‘Everything is on the table’
Donald Trump has said that the National Health Service would be on the table in any trade negotiations between the United Kingdom and the United States of America.
Speaking at a joint press conference with prime minister (for now) Theresa May, the US president said “I think we’re going to have a great, very comprehensive trade deal.”
One journalist present interrupted to ask whether the NHS would be on the table, to which Trump responded: “Look, I think everything with a trade deal is on the table.
“When you’re dealing with trade, everything is on the table.
“So, NHS or anything else. Or a lot more than that. But everything will be on the table, absolutely.”
Theresa May, in a final attempt to appear strong and stable, butted in to say: “But the point about making trade deals it of course that both sides negotiate and come to an agreement about what should or should not be in that trade deal.”
Be in no doubt. A trade deal with Donald Trump will mean US corporations get to privatise and dismantle our NHS one bed at a time. #TrumpProtesthttps://t.co/Y5UaAHXCtO

What this means is that the NHS will definitely be part of the negotiating process for a trade deal between the two nations, with Trump likely to demand selling off the NHS to multinational healthcare insurance companies as part of a deal.
Great.
Wonderful.
Fuck’s sake.
