Gary Neville and Ryan Giggs have been praised after they recently told a group of squatters occupying their new £1.5m building that they could stay in it over the winter.
The pair have plans to turn Manchester’s Stock Exchange building into a hotel, but agreed to let the homeless group stay until building work is scheduled to begin in February.
It now appears that Neville has extended the gesture of good will by paying to make the space more habitable throughout the group’s temporary stay.
As reported by the Manchester Evening News, the group – who have called themselves the Sock Exchange – have claimed on Facebook that Neville is set to pay for tradesman to install shower units and even provide meals for them.
‘He [Neville] is paying for electricians; plumbers; builders and other tradesmen to come and install temporary shower units; bathrooms; toilets; lighting etc so that the building is habitable over the winter period,’ claimed the group via its Facebook page.
‘Gary Neville is arranging for Hotel Football Old Trafford to make an evening meal for the homeless on Mondays, Wednesday and Fridays so that they get a well-balanced nutritious meal three times a week from his chefs. Thank you Gary,’ a later post claimed.
