The EU Referendum vote is just hours away, prompting some unexpected attempts to get people up and out voting.
We’ve have navy flotillas, celebrity campaigning, some eloquent posts from both Rio Ferdinand and David Beckham and that’s just from within the UK.
Over in mainland Europe, and a number of groups have made effort to convince British people to vote in the referendum. First came Parisians handing out postcards at Kings Cross, but now German tabloid Bild have tried doing their bit.

The Germain red top newspaper, known for their football and transfer reportage, is promising to acknowledge the Wembley “Ghost Goal” – Geoff Hurst’s second goal in the 1966 World Cup final between England and (then) West Germany.

England’s third goal from their 4-2 win at Wembley, the ghost goal is a big point of contention as many on the German side believe Hurst’s strike did not cross the line after the striking the crossbar and heading in. The goal was left to stand thanks to a decision made by Azerbaijan linesman Tofiq Bahramov, although modern research has “revealed” that the goal in hindsight most likely should not have stood.
So there’s the deal as offered by BILD. Vote, and one of the most popular newspapers in Germany will drop the ghost goal. Quite the deal, the cheeky buggers.
