Gogglebox family receive police visit after ISIS joke

Oops

Well that went wrong.

A family from the Channel 4 reality TV show Gogglebox have been spoken to by anti-terror police after they added a photo to Facebook with the caption: “ISIS training day, look how happy we look!”

Baasit, Uma and Raza Siddiqui were paintballing when they took the picture, and clearly thought their Facebook friends would all see the funny side of the spoof post.

According to The Sun, the picture was uploaded by 38-year-old Raza, who only features occasionally on the popular Friday night show. Baasit and Uma, along with their father Sid, appear more regularly.

Most commenters on the picture were reportedly joining in with the mocking of the terrorist group, but someone clearly didn’t appreciate it and lodged a complaint to the police.

Derbyshire Police visited the Siddiqui household and unsurprisingly say they’re satisfied that no offences have been committed by the brothers. They did, however, add that they would be offering “suitable words of advice”.

The anonymous Facebook friend who reported the picture told The Sun: “When you are in the media, you have a responsibility. His friends were liking and loving it. You don’t know if any of those people are genuinely ISIS supporters.”

Gogglebox tweeted on Friday to inform fans that the next episode (Wednesday August 3) would be a Brexit-themed special. Probably one to watch, then.
