Several gunshots have been fired outside the Houses of Parliament.
At least one person was shot by police after reportedly rushing the gates on Wednesday afternoon.

There are also reports that the man was seen carrying a knife within the grounds of the Palace of Westminster, which is currently on lockdown.
A police officer was injured in the attack.

At least a dozen people are also reportedly injured after a separate incident that took place on Westminster Bridge.
Eyewitness reports claim that a car was involved in the major security alert, with suggestions that a loud crash preceded the gunshots.
The Telegraph have reported that two people were seen lying within Old Palace Yard while the sitting of the House of Commons has since been suspended
