Hacker ‘in his pyjamas’ takes down entire North Korean internet as revenge

Clad in his pyjamas, an American hacker casually took down all of North Korea’s internet as a form of revenge for a cyber attack aimed at him.

Identified only as P4x, the hacker launched numerous “distributed denial of service” (DDoS) attacks on the nation which is currently ruled by Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un.

Emails stopped working and governmental websites crashed after launching his DDoS attack that essentially takes up all available bandwidth and in turn, causes internet capacities to shrink and websites to freeze.

It’s important to remember that the internet is not a resource readily available to everyday Korean citizens and instead is reserved for high-ranking officials and academics.

Weeks of sustained and unrelenting attacks from P4x convinced some Pyongyang officials that the country was under attack from a Western power, reports Wired.

Officials cited their recent missile tests as the reason the West was attacking but it was actually “one American man in a T-shirt, pyjama pants and slippers, sitting in his living room night after night, watching Alien movies and eating spicy corn snacks.”

They added that the hacker was: “periodically walking over to his home office to check on the progress of the programs he was running to disrupt the internet of an entire country.”

The internet’s newest icon told Wired: “It felt like the right thing to do here. If they don’t see we have teeth, it’s just going to keep coming,

“I want them to understand that if you come at us, it means some of your infrastructure is going down for a while.”

The hacker said the attack was revenge for North Korea attempting to steal his hacking technology last year, which he reported to the FBI.

However nothing was done and in his own words: “if no-one is going to help me, I’m going to help myself.”
