It’s going to be the hottest week of the year
Wowza, it’s been a hot year this year. I mean a really hot, heatwave kind of year. The type that sees beads of sweat running down your head as soon as you leave the house. The type of weather that means you must have a fan close to you at all times. The type where your mum texts you three times a week to make sure you’re keeping hydrated. The type that has your gran using words like “sweltered” and the temperature is too much to ask her what the word means.
Yes, boy oh boy has it been hot. And if you came here hoping for news that it could be coming to an end then I’m sad to say you’re going to be disappointed, because it’s actually going to get hotter than it has already been. That is to say that the hottest weather this year is yet to come: on Wednesday and Thursday, we’re going to see heat the likes of which we have not seen in a long time.

Simon Patridge from the Met Office reckons it could be the hottest day in three years on Thursday. He’s from the Met Office, he’s a professional, he’s not shitting you, it’s going to be hot.
He told JOE.co.uk: “The heat this week is going to be highest in the south and south-east of the UK. We are going to see a gradual increase in the temperature through the week as warm air arrives in Britain from the south of Spain.
“It will be around 31C on Monday, followed by 31/32C on Tuesday and then could see temperatures of up to 34/35C on Wednesday and Thursday – higher than 33C which is the hottest recorded temperature this year. In fact, we could see the hottest day for three years.”
If you’re looking for a comparison in temperature, it will be just 32C in Jamaica on Wednesday and Thursday. How often can you say you’re living in a country that’s hotter than the Caribbean? Let’s all make sure we make the most of it.
