Guess who’s back with a brand new heatwave
The heat is hot. My home is hot. The walk to work is hot. Hot, hot, hot.
Britain’s hottest day on record is 2003’s 38.5C, recorded in Faversham, Kent. Tuesday and Wednesday next week are forecast for 34C but could go higher.
Met Office meteorologist Aidan McGivern said: “In the south-east temperatures will really soar by Saturday afternoon.
“27C to 29C and with the heat and humidity, we’ll again see a few sharp showers developing in East Anglia, southern counties of England and south Wales.
“Otherwise clouds tending to clear away on Saturday evening.
“That is ahead of this warm front which is going to thicken up the clouds across western Scotland and Northern Ireland through Saturday evening and it will bring in some rain.
“But it will also bring in these red hews, higher humidity from the Atlantic.
“Now, that higher humidity will be quite noticeable through Saturday night particularly in the north-west but even elsewhere where we’ve got clear spells.

“Temperatures remaining in the high teens in some places.
“So an uncomfortable night for sleeping.
“A warm start to Sunday and plenty of sunshine. Certainly, a sunnier spell of weather for much of England, Wales, eastern Scotland compared to Saturday.
“There will be some cloud drifting here and there otherwise lots of strong sunshine.
“And 30C in the south-east where it will feel hot and humid.
“Further north-west we’ve got the thicker clouds which just stick around all day and for northern and western Scotland outbreaks of rain, particularly over the hills.
“Feeling cooler in the north-west but not particularly cold because it’s going to be a humid day for all on Sunday.
“And if you are spending any time outdoors with the hot sunshine across England, Wales and eastern Scotland, just bear in mind those UV levels are high at the moment.
“Do cover up.”
