“We don’t know where she has been moved to but our understanding was that she had been moved”

Shamima Begum has reportedly fled from a Syrian refugee camp after receiving death threats.

The 19-year-old is said to be “living in fear of her life” and, along with her newborn baby, has been taken to another base in Syria after she was allegedly threatened.

A report in The Sun has quoted a source as saying: “She is living in fear of her life. There is a bounty on her head. She felt she had no option but to move her and her child to have a chance of survival.

“Shamima has become something of a celebrity and is constantly looking over her shoulder, fearing brutal reprisals for daring to speak out about life with ISIS.”

Speaking to The Mirror, Begum’s lawyer said he was unaware of her current location and that while he understood that she had been moved, he was unable to confirm it.

“We don’t know where she has been moved to but our understanding was that she had been moved,” Tasnime Akunjee said.  “We have not had any confirmation of this.”

Begum, who fled to Syria from Bethnal Green in east London to join Islamic State as a 15-year-old, recently made headlines after requesting to be allowed to return to the UK. Home secretary Sajid Javid responded by stripping her of her UK citizenship, a decision which has prompted her family to consider legal action.
