The dogs were sent back to Biden’s home in Delaware
Two German Sheperds belonging to US president Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden have returned to the family home in Delaware following aggressive behaviour in the White House.
CNN reported one of the dogs, Major, was involved in a “biting incident” with a member of the White House security staff.
While it’s not known if any injuries were sustained by the victim, the incident was considered serious enough that Major and Champ were removed to Delaware where they remain.
Major, who is three, was adopted by the Biden family from an animal shelter in 2018 while Champ is much older at 13. Both had been living in the White House after moving there a week after their owner’s inauguration.
While the dogs are known to spend time in Delaware when their owners are out of town, it’s unclear when the dogs would be allowed to return to the White House.
First Lady Jill Biden said last month she’s being trying to get the duo settled in their new home.
“They have to take the elevator, they’re not used to that, and they have to go out on the South Lawn with lots of people watching them,” she told The Kelly Clarkson Show.
“So that’s what I’ve been obsessed with, getting everybody settled and calm.”
It’s not the first time the dogs have made the news, after Biden suffered a hairline fracture in his foot last year when he “tripped on the rug [Major] slid on” while playing with the dog.
