Looking for a new shed? The MoD are selling old helicopters for you to pick up

Carl Anka

The Ministry of Defence are now selling the ultimate man caves.

A surplus of air force equipment has meant those in …. have made the decision to sell out of use Sea King military helicopters.

What use would your average man on the street want with a retired search & rescue helicopter?

Imagine turning it into the bolchiest shed ever.

ST IVES, ENGLAND - JULY 28: A Royal Navy Sea King helicopter from 771 Squadron based at Royal Naval Air Station Culdrose assists a woman in her 50's who is being airlifted to hospital with head injuries after falling from Smeaton's Pier, as it operates above St. Ives on July 28, 2015 in St. Ives, Cornwall, England. This is the last year the Navy will run search and rescue operations before it's fleet of ageing Sea Kings are retired and the responsibility for civilian rescue is handed over to a private company operating from Newquay Airport. Witham Special Vehicles in Lincolnshire have 30 of the Sea King helicopters for sale. Around 20 of the vehicles are still good to fly (available for the eye watering price of £150,000). The remaining numbers are being sold as impressive hulks for whatever your heart desires.

Talking to the Telegraph, Witham’s managing director Paul Southerington explained how they’re being turned into luxury man caves. “They are being sold for upmarket gardens sheds or ‘man caves’. One guy was going to put a bedroom in and siting room in it,” he said.

“They are ideal for conversion. The sky’s the limit with what you can do with one. They are all made of aluminium so they will never rust or rot.”

The price for one of these mean machines? An eye watering £10,000. Best start saving those pennies if you want to live the manly men dream.
