Police have arrested a 41-year-old man on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm after CCTV footage emerged of him barging an unknown woman into the path of an oncoming bus.
The incident happened on Putney Bridge in London and thankfully the driver of the bus was able to react quickly enough to avoid the woman as she fell onto the road.
The footage, which can be seen below, shows the jogger running across the bridge at 7.40 on the morning of May 5 this year. He collides with the woman, who is walking in the opposite direction, sending her into the road just as a double-decker bus is approaching.
The arrest was made after police followed up on enquiries at an address in the Chelsea area on the morning of Thursday, 10 August. The man has since been taken to a south London police station where he remains in custody.
After the incident, the driver of the bus pulled over to check on the woman, who is said to have suffered ‘minor’ injuries. The jogger is said to have ran the other way across the bridge 15 minutes later, but ignored the victim’s attempts to speak to him.
The Met issued CCTV of the incident and they’ve acknowledged the public’s help in providing ‘a good response from the appeal.’
