Sorry Lizzie, but there’s a new Queen in town
Meghan Markle may never get a royal crown, but she has been crowned the most influential royal, beating out the likes of The Queen and Kate Middleton.
Research from Design Bundles collated global Google Searches, media mentions and Instagram hashtags to find out who is the most influential Royal Family Member. While most would instantly expect the Queen in the top spot, Markle has double the media mentions, Instagram hashtags, and google searches as the Queen.
At the top spot, Markle’s 2021 contained 7.4 million Google searches a month, 10.4 million Instagram hashtags, and a staggering 11,200 articles about her in a year. But how many are from Piers Morgan?
In second place, Lizzi boasts an impressive 10.3 million hashtags, 3.3 million google searches, and 2,200 media mentions. Following behind our binge drinking head of state, Kate Middleton may not have reached the top, but she did get the most Instagram hashtags with 13 million.
In fourth place comes Prince Harry with 2.7 million Google searches a month. The Duke of Sussex also features in 11.7 million Instagram posts and had 9,400 articles written about him last year.
Despite passing in 1997, Princess Diana comes in fifth ahead of her former husband. Despite dying 24-years-ago, Diana still gets an average of 20 million searches a month. With 900,000 Instagram hashtags and 3000 articles in 2021 alone, Diana still proves to be the people’s princess.
